How I began writing books...

As a child growing up, I always loved telling stories. I would embellish them in order to get others to laugh. The best moments in my life were when laughter was involved. Laughter renewed and refreshed my soul. I did not consider myself a writer as I had difficulty in school due to my focus issues and my lack of ability to sit still. I couldn’t spell and did not do well in English or writing. But story telling was my thing.

It wasn’t until I was an adult about 45 years old that I met and befriended a quadriplegic artist, William Heard. He inspired me to write my fist book, Providence Road a book about my life’s journey from a near death experience.

As my life progressed, I became a grandmother and was inspired to begin writing children’s books for my grandchildren. My first one was The Adventures of Vick Bick (2020) the book is about the life of an ink pen. Where does an ink pen go? I have been told the book is like a cross between a Toy Story and a Forest Gump tale. I think it would make a great children’s movie.

In 2022, I wrote a book entitled, A Boy and A Tree. The book is about a friendship between a boy and a tree and how to solve a loneliness issue.

And then in 2023, I wrote What’s New at The Zoo, a book that encourages laughter with your child. Since I love to laugh, this is my favorite one by far. It’s a rhyming book that I think children will love. My latest book was written in 2025 it is called Sneaky Critter based off a game I play with my grandchildren. My illustrator for Whats New at the Zoo and Sneaky Critter was Jack Whitney and in both books he did a wonderful job with the illustrations and captured the imagination of the stories. To learn more about him you can go to jackwhitneyfineart.com

I write the children’s books for fun, for my grandchildren, family and friends.

I hope you will enjoy the books. I look forward to hearing from you and appreciate all feedback and reviews. All books can be found on Amazon.

Thank you.

About the Illustrator - What's New at the Zoo

Jack Whitney

Jack grew up in middle Tennessee, where at the age of 4 announced that he would become an artist. This was only after he discovered his first two choices of becoming a tractor or a bear weren’t possible! He settled on becoming an artist and has remained one his whole life.

For over 30 years, Jack has used both traditional and digital tools to create art for advertising and publishing. Lately, Jack’s been revisiting his skills as a fine artist with oils, acrylics, pastels, charcoal and graphite. His portraits, like himself, can be serious or humorous. He’s the father of 5 children and the grandfather of 5 grandchildren and he currently lives in St. Peters, Missouri with his lovely wife Deb.
